The Hamblen County Clerk’s office is consolidating its operations to the county courthouse effective December 2, 2024, to improve efficiency and to cut operating costs without sacrificing customer service. The clerk’s office has decided to move the satellite office operations located on North Davy Crockett Parkway to the courthouse combining all services to conveniently be offered at one location. The availability of more office space at the courthouse with the opening of the new justice center next spring, as well as the expiration of the lease of the satellite office, impacted the timing of the move. Peggy Henderson, County Clerk, stated “Serving the citizens of Hamblen County will always be my number one priority. We can provide excellent service, better hours and save taxpayer dollars by combining the offices. Citizens will be given better opportunities for service while utilizing the staff to the fullest.  With today’s technology, the county clerk’s office can offer our citizens the same level of convenience at less cost by consolidating our two offices. We plan to extend office hours during the week while offering 24-hour access to renewing vehicle registrations online and at the kiosk located outside the courthouse.” The clerk’s office has indicated the last day of operation for the satellite office will be November 22, 2024, and office hours will be extended at the courthouse beginning December 2, 2024, The kiosk is now available for vehicle registrations seven days a week.
