The Election Commissioners are appointed by the State Election Commission upon the recommendation of the local representative (TN Senator or Representative) and the local parties. The Election Commissioners, in turn, appoint the local Administrator of Elections.

The Election Commission Office serves the voting public and candidates in all things pertaining to an election: Local, State and Federal. The Election Commission Office is responsible for filing and maintaining all voter registration records for Hamblen County and Morristown.

The Election Commission meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 4:00pm in the Election Commission Office at the Hamblen County Courthouse.  Election Commission meeting minutes are available through the Administrator of Elections upon request.

May 6, 2022 – First Day to Request an Absentee Ballot

June 15, 2022 – Write-In Deadline 12:00 noon

July 5, 2022 – Last Day to Register to Vote in the August Election

July 15, 2022 – Early Voting Begins

July 28, 2022 – Last Day for the Election Commission to Receive a Request for Absentee Ballot

July 30, 2022 – Early Voting Ends

August 4, 2022 – Election Day

Early voting for the May 3, 2022 County Primary Election begins April 13, 2022 and ends April 28, 2022.  During early voting, the polls will be open the following hours:

Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri:     8:00am – 4:30pm
Thursday:                  8:00am – 6:00pm
Saturday:                  8:00am – 12:00 noon

Early voting takes place in the Election Commission office located at the Hamblen County Courthouse at 511 W. 2nd North Street, Morristown, Tennessee.  For more information call 423-586-7169.
