The Election Commissioners are appointed by the State Election Commission upon the recommendation of the local representative (TN Senator or Representative) and the local parties. The Election Commissioners, in turn, appoint the local Administrator of Elections.

The Election Commission Office serves the voting public and candidates in all things pertaining to an election: Local, State and Federal. The Election Commission Office is responsible for filing and maintaining all voter registration records for Hamblen County and Morristown.

The Election Commission meets the 3rd Thursday of each month at 4:00pm in the Election Commission Office at the Hamblen County Courthouse.  Election Commission meeting minutes are available through the Administrator of Elections upon request.

December 19, 2022 – 1st day to Issue Nominating Petitions

February 1, 2023 – 1st day to Request an Absentee Ballot

February 16, 2023 – Qualifying Deadline 12:00 Noon

February 23, 2023 – Withdrawal Deadline 12:00 Noon

March 13, 2023 – Write-In Deadline 12:00 Noon

April 3, 2023 – Last Day to Register for the May 2nd Election

April 12, 2023 – Early Voting Begins

April 25, 2023 – Last Day the Election Commission can receive a Request for an Absentee Ballot

April 27, 2023 – Early Voting Ends

May 2, 2023 – Election Day

Early voting for the May 2, 2023 Morristown City Election begins April 12, 2023 and ends April 27, 2023.
