Public Hearing

The Hamblen County Legislative Body will conduct a public hearing on September 24, 2026 at 5:00 p.m. during the regularly scheduled Commission Meeting in the Chancery Courtroom of the Hamblen County Courthouse, 511 W. 2nd North Street, Morristown, Tennessee, pursuant to T.C.A.
§§ 13-7-105 for the purpose of taking comments regarding a proposed amendment to the Hamblen County Zoning Ordinance. Anyone wishing to speak will be allotted three (3) minutes. The ordinance, if enacted , will impose a one year moratorium upon the permitting and development of high intensity electrical load facilities pending adoption of comprehensive land use regulations. A temporary moratorium, if enacted, will be imposed on the development, construction, expansion , and approval of any high density electrical load facility as defined in Article III, (Any facility with a peak electrical demand of 5 megawatt (mw) or greater or that requires dedicated electrical infrastructure primarily for industrial sale computing operations i.e. data centers, crypto currency mining facility, high performance computing facility) within the jurisdiction of Hamblen County, Tennessee. Excepted from application of this moratorium is any facility located within an industrially zoned property within the current boundaries of the First Civil District of Hamblen County. This moratorium will be adopted as an interim land use control to preserve the status quo while the County evaluates and adopts comprehensive zoning regulations addressing such facilities.
