Full-Time Emergency Management Agency (EMA) Director

Hamblen County is seeking a qualified Emergency Management Agency Director to lead and coordinate all county emergency management and homeland security operations. The Director ensures preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation efforts for natural and manmade disasters and maintains a constant state of readiness to protect residents and property.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain county emergency plans and procedures.
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal agencies, including TEMA and FEMA.
  • Lead Emergency Operations Center (EOC) activities during emergencies.
  • Supervise EMA staff and coordinate with first responder agencies.
  • Manage grants, budgets, and public safety education programs.

This is a full-time position requiring 24/7 availability for emergency response.

Qualifications:

  • Associate degree or equivalent work experience in related field (bachelor’s preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in emergency management or public safety operations.
  • FEMA NIMS/ICS certifications (IS-700, IS-800, ICS-100, 200, 300, 400).
  • Valid Tennessee driver’s license; CEM or CEMP certification preferred.

Salary Range: $57,000 to $64,000
