The Election Commissioners are appointed by the State Election Commission upon the recommendation of the local representative (TN Senator or Representative) and the local parties. The Election Commissioners, in turn, appoint the local Administrator of Elections.

The Election Commission Office serves the voting public and candidates in all things pertaining to an election: Local, State and Federal. The Election Commission Office is responsible for filing and maintaining all voter registration records for Hamblen County and Morristown.

November 17, 2017 – First day to pick up petitions for the County Primary (primary includes following offices: County Mayor, Trustee, Sheriff, Circuit Court Clerk, County Clerk, Register of Deeds, County Commission-All Districts, Constables-All Districts)
January 31, 2018
– First day to request an absentee ballot for the County Primary
February 15, 2018, 12:00 NOON – Qualifying deadline for candidate petitions
February 22, 2018, 12:00 NOON – Withdrawal deadline for candidates wishing to withdraw their name from the County Primary
March 12, 2018, 12:00 NOON – Certification of write in candidacy must be filed with the Election Commission Office
April 2, 2018 – Last day to register to vote before the May 1, 2018 County Primary Election
April 11, 2018 – Early Voting Begins
April 24, 2018 – Last day to request an absentee ballot of the County Primary
April 26, 2018 – Early Voting Ends
May 1, 2018 – Election Day

January 5, 2018 – First day to pick up petitions for the County General/State Primary (election includes following offices: School Board Districts 1 & 2, 5 & 6, 9 & 10, 11 & 12, United State Senate, United State House of Representatives, Governor, Tennessee State Senator 1st District, Tennessee House of Representatives 10th District, Republican and Democratic State Executive Committeeman and Committeewoman 1st District)
